In cruising news, did you hear about the fuel surcharge? It looks like Celebrity is jumping on the bandwagon to charge more because of the high cost of fuel. It is $5 per day per person, up to a maximum of $70.
On the other hand, I also heard about a price reduction for our cruise. It is from $150-200 per person price cut. On January 10, I received an e-mail from Alex, our travel agent, as follows:
Thanks for the heads up on the price reduction. I've adjusted everyone's reservation to reflect the decrease. Your rate went down $150 per person. I'll send out a new statement reflecting this. Hope you had a Happy New Year!
So, we will not be charged more and in fact may see some reduction on that balance due!!

No, we have not heard from Alex about a fuel surcharge. So what does that mean for those of us who have put down a deposit... is the price going up, and if so, by how much? Thanks!
Robin
Or I should have said we have not heard about the fuel surcharge or the price reduction on the cruise.. do tell!
Hmmmm, I assumed that she had notified everyone. I told her about the price reduction and she sent an e-mail on January 10 saying she would be re-doing the statements and letting everyone know. The reduction is about $150-200 per person so it offsets the fuel increase ($70 per person). It is weird you did not hear from her. I will edit the post to make this clearer. If I were you I would e-mail Alex (link over on the right panel) about this on your own.
Thanks, Kay! Maybe I'm not on Alex's email list for some reason. I'll check with her to be sure. I have not received any emails other than when I email her to ask specific questions. Thanks for the info and clarification!
