Barcelona Hotel Info

After you have made your airline reservations, one of our first decisions has to be where to stay in Barcelona. We asked our travel agent, Alex, for some hotels and she offered to make reservations at:

Claris Hotel €306/night. Not sure if that included breakfast.

Note: There is a link to a euro converter on the right panel of the blog if you want to see how many dollars a euro equals!

Fira Palace - $396/night (this looks like a VERY nice place), includes breakfast

Hotel Barcelona Center - $278/night, this also looks nice although I could not find pictures of the rooms, includes breakfast

For other hotels, here are some that are recommended on Trip Advisor:

Hotel Granados 83 which was about 182 euros. Not sure if that included breakfast.

Hotel Pulitzer which was about 195 euros ($285/night). Not sure if that included breakfast.

Any other suggestions for hotels?

As far as getting from the airport to any hotel, Alex reports that grabbing a taxi at the airport in Barcelona is probably cheaper than arranging a transfer and that "taxis run approximately 25 Euros. From the hotel to the pier is quite close and should be about half that price. Embarkation begins at 4pm and Celebrity has sailing time at 7pm presently."

I posted some hotel info, but in the wrong area! Oops! And I haven't even had a martini yet! Anyway, my post is in the Great Airfare comments section if you want to read it.

Thanks, Robin. Got it! We have been looking at several less expensive hotels also. Let us know which one you pick.

Just wanted to inform you all of an option in Spain. We (Robin & Mike A., Karen A. & Tina M.) have reserved a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment for our pre-cruise stay in Barcelona. It's in the La Rambla area and costs $366.00 Euros ($543.00 US)for the 4 of us for 2 nights. If you are interested in doing the same, go to www.lovingbarcelona.com and you can see photos, info, rates, locations, etc., on all apartments they have available. Or contact Jonny Norman the reservationist at +34 93 390 5434 or email him at Barcelona@lovingapartments.com
Some apartments require a 3 night minimum. I'm trying to reserve an apartment in Venice for 2 nights post-cruise, but so far no luck as the ones I've contacted require a 3 night minimum. If anyone knows of any good hotels or apartments in Venice near St. Mark's Square (San Marcos)please let me know!

Our travel agent Alex is working on a hotel for Roger and I in Venice. Close to St. Mark's Square. Alex stated that the hotel has it's own water taxi dock which sounds very advantage as we will be on an island and water ways are Venice's transportation avenues. If you are interested. Email Alex that you would like to be included with the group.

Another alternative is the Hotel Concordia. This is the only hotel on St. Mark's Square. Russell & Randy are staying there after the cruise for two nights. Might want to check that out as another option.

We chose the Hotel Colon which is across from the cathedral and not far from Las Ramblas. Price seemed reasonable!
